Ce vs. Daily Life

You’ll hear no complaints from us about this winter, but I’ve also learned 4 inches of snow or 4 feet, it makes little difference for parents. It’s the cold that traps us inside with our little terrors. I can’t wait until it’s warm enough that we can run her around the field till she drops. We’re running low on diversions. We’re now on first name basis with many Target employees (across multiple stores) as we roam the aisles like nomads, following along in Ce’s wake as she busts up and down every aisle filling her cart. Whatever works, but I’m tired of restocking shelves.

Swim Lessons

In preparation for our vacation this year, we thought getting Ce used to the water would be a good idea. After a rocky start, she’s really enjoyed the Wednesday morning routine with her ‘buddy’ Jackson. Mama has enjoyed the one thing a week guaranteed to wipe her out enough not to fight the afternoon nap. That fact alone is worth the lesson cost and definitely worth continuing till the spring thaw.

Christmas in January, Part 2

Answers to commonly asked Christmas questions this year:

  • No she didn’t cry, but she didn’t sit on his lap either. Healthy fear of strangers.
  • A big girl stroller for her babies, a digital camera, blocks and arts and craft supplies.
  • Not really, maybe next year.
  • Same dress as last year.
  • Seeing baby Rachel

Christmas in January

I’d make a resolution to stay on top of pictures and videos and post every week, but we all know that would be a lie. So here are some pictures from Christmas. We kept up the Donohue tradition of at least 500 miles traveled, 5 houses and at least 13 cookie varieties samples. Cecilia definitely was down with the last one. The other parts of the Donohue traveling Christmas bazaar are going to take more getting used to. Part 2 tomorrow! Really.

Ce vs. The Gingerbread House

Ok, we have a few days to catch our breath from the holidays and post some December photos. Here is Cecilia and Mommy making (attempting) a gingerbread house. Not sure why we thought doing this after dinner was a good idea. Vegas put the over/under on pieces of candy Cecilia would eat at 24. The over was a safe bet.

Ce vs. Cider Donuts

Not a lot words needed to explain this one. I’ll let the pictures do the talking. This year we introduced Ce to the universe’s little fall goodie bag before it dumps a wet blanket of snow on us for four months: cider donuts and caramel apples. I think she would also add tractors in her personal top five as well. She really liked the tractor.

Donuts, apples and tractors courtesy of Honey Pot Hill Orchards in Stow, MA. Really good cider donuts. Every place in New England has ‘em in the fall, but it’s harder than it looks to do it well. Small, light, warm and not greasy. These are done well. Cecilia would agree.
